Average Salaries In Game Development CIS: A Study Of Sergei Galenkin

The average salary in Moscow exceeded 100 thousand rubles, in the rest of Russia reached 67 thousand. Most earn Moscow producers and analysts — 146 thousand rubles. In the regions in the first place bizdev representatives and managers with a salary of almost 113 thousand. Also distributed and indicators of the profitability of professions (calculated as the ratio of salary to length of service).

In second place in the capital — programmers and engineers, receiving a median salary 134 thousand rubles. In the rest of Russia they went around the indie developers who earn an average of almost 107 thousand. In Moscow, completing the top three managers in the regions — producers and analysts. Least of all in the capital earn journalists and bloggers — 20.5 thousand rubles.

However, this figure may be a consequence of the low sample. Your data leaving only four representatives of this profession. The study also showed the approximate distribution of occupations in Moscow and regions.

Most of all in Ukraine, as in Moscow, earn the producers and analysts — 2.5 thousand ($152 thousand). In second place with a difference of $ 400 (25 thousand rubles) are managers. Ukrainian programmers are an average of 1,7 thousand ($107 thousand). In Belarus took first place bizdev representatives and managers with a salary of almost 3 thousands of dollars (181 thousand), and second, analysts and producers, 2,5 thousand ($152 thousand).

Programmers from Belarus get 2.2 thousand ($137 thousand). The last survey was conducted probably in the worst period for the domestic game development and the results were relevant. This year we can note that there has been a wage increase in almost all regions, the increase is quite significant.

By occupation, the situation also remains the same. Managers and producers get the most, then go the programmers and everyone else. This is especially noticeable in Ukraine, where the programmers get 50% more artists. That, however, is less than 60% in the past year.

I think that for the next survey, I will revise the list of professions because in 2014 theres a new specialty. As before, education does not give you a decisive advantage. People with higher education earn on 13% more than people with secondary. In comparison with the previous year slightly increased average age, but this may be due to changes in the audience of the podcast, and not only with a maturing industry.

Halve the gap between the salaries of men and women (from 57% to 28%), but it can also be due to the fact that this time the survey is filled, fewer women than last year. More all grown salaries in Russia (42%), but it is connected including with the method of counting — the last survey came at an unusually low rate of the ruble. A notable increase is seen in Belarus (25%) and Ukraine (15%).

Overall, the picture across countries and occupations in comparison with last year has not changed. Despite this considerable growth of salaries in Russia, Belarus firmly holds the first place, and Ukraine — the second. Same with cities. Minsk, Kiev, Moscow, Kharkov, St. Petersburg. Of course, wages in Minsk (in Belarus in General) noticeably skewed by Wargaming, which has the biggest office.

But it does not change the overall situation. Other employers in Minsk have to compete with Wargaming. By occupation, the situation also remains the same. Managers and producers get the most, then go the programmers and everyone else.

This is especially noticeable in Ukraine, where the programmers get 50% more artists. That, however, is less than 60% in the past year.
