Periodic reporting is an integral part of any online marketer, “eat” a lot of the time. Google understood this and went to the users to meet, adding the ability to automatically upload data from Analytics in Sheets. Brought this to the fact that the reports can be obtained in the desired format with just a couple of clicks (or even without them). Today we decided to share our experiences and talk about how self-automating reporting.
So, first open a spreadsheet and add the necessary plug-in. To do this, switch to the menu item “Extensions”, “Install” and enter a search in Google Analytics. Well, the preparatory stage has been completed. Go ahead.
Now we need to get the form where we will introduce the configuration of our report. To do that go to the menu item “Add-ons”, “Google Analytics”, “Create new report”. In the window that appears, select the account, property, presentation, and click “Create report”. After these simple manipulations we get a sheet of report configurations.
Consider each item. Report name — the report name. May take any convenient value.
Type — the type of report. The value can be core for the main report (Core Reporting), and mcf — records for multi-channel funnels (Multi-Channel Funnels Reporting). View (Profile) ID — the ID of the view. You can find it in Google Analytics in your view settings.
The value to write in this format. “ga:the id of the view”. For example. Ga:33333333.
Start Date and End Date — the date of beginning and end of the reporting period. For example. Last N Days — the formatting of the report period in the last n days. Can take any numeric value.
Metrics and Dimensions — dimensions and metrics on which the report will be built. Full list of all the parameters and indicators for Core Reporting you can find here, but for Multi-Channel Funnels Reporting — here. Sort — sorting.
Select the parameter or metric by which to sort and write it in the box. If you need sorting by a decrease (in reverse alphabetical order) simply precede the parameter or indicator minus sign. Sampling level sampling. Can take three values. Default — standard; Faster — fast processing of data, small sample size; HIGHER_PRECISION — slow obrabotka data, a larger sample size.
Start Index — Index of the result set from which the discharge. Max-Result — limit the number of rows of discharge. Spreadsheet URL — you can also upload data and in other documents in Google Sheets (of course, you should have access to them).
Just enter the full URL of the document. The example of three different configurations. After this, run the download report.
The result will be a table of data of this type. If reports in this form will be enough — then you can stay.
If you need specific tables, graphs, or you will load additional data from somewhere else – we recommend creating separate worksheets with reports in formatted form, where the data will be loaded from the worksheets created automatically. By the way, leaves with neoformation data can be hidden, thus in the field of view will be the only reports required format. Of course, the first time the formation of such a report may take a considerable amount of time.
A selection of the necessary parameters and indicators, creating tables, formatting, adding charts – work for a few hours. However, in the future you will already have a ready-made template that you can use to create new reports.
